La Roche Colombe - Manas, France

For the first week of  summer vacation, we stayed at a gite in Southern France (near the little town of Manas) with some friends, Paula and Drew, along with their daughter Rebecca (age 6) and son Matthew (age 1) (see our trip to Han).  The gite was run by an English couple, Bob and Celia, who were great fun - they had renovated an old farmhouse and turned it into partially a bed and breakfast and partially a collection of larger suites which could be rented by the week (which we did).  There was also a beautiful swimming pool, which we used every day and which the kids adored.

The swimming pool - I'm on the left with John and Lydia, Paula is holding Rebecca on the right.
In our suite - the kids all got together and made a little house (on our one and only rainy morning)

Our second day there, the kids decided to put on a show for the other guests.  We were
a little doubful, but willing, as the kids set up all the chairs (gathering them from
all over), put out little snack tables, got out chips and raisins and other stuff as snacks, then
went and gathered as many of the guests as they could find (and they did pretty well too, as
you can see...)

Both John and Rebecca played on the guitar a bit

And then they moved on to dance portion of the show.

In the end, everyone was quite pleased and amused - and the kids even did another show the following evening (using some dress up clothes that Bob and Celia happened to have around).

Overall it was quite a pleasant week - lots of time by the pool (see below), lots of time with John retrieving coins from the bottom of the pool (good practice holding his breath and swimming!), visits to the crocodile farm, to the tower of crest, to a silk museum, to a winery, to a pony ride, etc.
