A weekend away, just the two of us

Back in 200x, John traveled to San Francisco for a week with just his Granny and Granddad (see photos), which we called the John-scoop.  Ever since, Lydia has been asking when she would go on a Lydia-scoop.  Well, this was the year.

Granny came out to Belgium to scoop up Lydia and take her off to San Francisco for a week.  However, being a super-duper nice Granny, she came out a weekend early and volunteered to watch the kids while K and I had our own scoop, just the two of us for a nice weekend in the Ardennes (using up the remainder of Mark's gift certifcates from work, the ones that we used most of at Winter Efteling)
