Hanswijk Processie, May 2008

Each year in Mechelen there is the Hanswijkprocessie, a parade of a statue of Mary through the town, along with a retelling of many scenes from the Bible and a retelling of the statue's story - to learn more, look at http://www.hanswijkprocessie.org/  John and Lydia have done this for several years - including 2007 and 2005.

The original boat, with the statue on it (not the real statue!)  The boat ran aground and stayed
stuck until the statue of the virgin was taken off the boat (taken as a clear sign that the statue
wished to stay there)
