Kayaking along the Lesse

We traveled down to Houyet, Belgium to spend the weekend and go kayaking.  We spent the weekend in a secluded little camping spot (below left) and then on Saturday we rented sit-on-top kayaks to kayak down the Lesse from Houyet to Anseremme (route on the right)

As we board the boats after a lunch spot - this wasn't exactly white water kayaking!  Believe it or not, this was arguably one of the rougher sections of the river...

While we were there, we (completely accidentally) met up with some friends, Richard and Michelle Cross, and Grant and Penny, who were at the same campground for the same weekend (along with their kids), who then also joined us for kayaking.

The next day we did a Ravel - a bicycle trail along a no longer used train track.
We left from our campsite at Houyet, traveled through Wanlin, and on to Rochefort (~20km),
where we had a nice break for ice cream before starting the way back.

Below - John and Lydia along the way (although they stopped partway!)
