The Pyramids at Giza

Something that we had always dreamed of seeing
Something John had asked to see for years
And here we are!

We did get to go inside (we paid extra for that), and it was well worthwhile.
We walked down a narrow, slightly claustrophobic passageway, and then into the main burial chamber, a hollow
room within the pyramid.  Even though it was empty, it was still pretty amazing to stand inside something that is
at the same time an engineering marvel as well as a burial chamber from thousands of years ago.
But no pictures allowed inside...

Back outside, I could NOT believe some of the antics from the tourists!

I found these images very funny - the ancient pyramids juxtaposed with modernity - the buses on the left and the city of Giza in the background on the right!

Right nearby was the Sphinx, which turned out to be smaller than I had anticipated.
