Bosberg is in Eastern Belgium, near the Dutch border, and it is a
vacation center owned and operated by the Gezinsbond, the organization
here which organizes activities and babysitting for families with young
children.
We are members of the Gezinsbond and we receive their monthly
newsletter, and, one month, Karen saw a special weekend trip in the
Ardennes, to this place called Bosberg. Well, to make a long story
short, Karen signed us up for a weekend here and off we went, much to
the surprise of people who were running the place, who had never had an
English speaking couple stay before! (It is in a very Flemish part
of Belgium...)
Overall, we had a great weekend - there was an orienteering course
which we did (not particularly challenging), and the kids just liked
wandering around. On the Sunday, we rented bikes and bicycled
through heather fields to another park (Hengelhoef), and then back
again. All in all, it was a nice weekend - lots of kids,
reasonable meals, noisy kids (so no one noticed when ours were being
noisy!), plenty of older boys for John to fool around with, and not too
many people had heart attacks when they found out that we weren't native
Flemish!
