For two years running now, we've gone to X:Apeldoorn in May (see pictures from last year) - with the excuse to visit X:Apenheul, an open air ape park right nearby.  Last year we went with just our family, whereas this year we went with a bunch of friends from church, which made it all the more fun.

Sean Riordan, our assistant pastor, cooking dinner.
Luckily his sermons are better than his cooking!
The spaghetti cooker.  John's bicycle is in the background.
Now we know why he's in computer (and why he's not a cook!)

The crew watching a beetle - Helen Riordan with her children Anna and Joel, then John and Lydia.
As the weekend went on we were joined by more friends (about 10+ kids total in the end).  Here is everyone having an impromptu barbecue.

Food!
The four of us on the lookout tower at the X:Kootwijker zand, a big sandy area in the middle of the Netherlands.  It is a quite pretty place and the kids always enjoy it.
