After England, we stayed for a week at a timeshare in X:Connelles,
about an hour+ Northwest of Paris. It was a very quiet little
town, but right on the banks of the Seine and in the middle of some
quite pretty countryside. Right nearby was apple country in
France, where they make Calvados (X:the region, X:the drink) (a nice
apple liqueur), plenty of cider, and other such drinks.
On the left is where we stayed, and on the right is a view of the
surrounding countryside.
We also visited X:Mont St
Michel, a monastery devoted to the archangel Michael. Due to
the tides in the area, the monastery is normally accessible, but it may
become an island during a particular high tide (Mark had visited Mont
St Michel in 1986 and had seen the tide come in and make the monastery
into an island, which was quite a site!).
We stayed at a nice hotel right on the "island" - La Vieille Auberge -
which also has a creperie associated with it (which serves extremely
nice crepes).
From our room we had a very nice view of the see, where we enjoyed our
breakfast:
