Trains!
Some snapshots of one of John's favorite toys, his wooden
Brio/Thomas/etc trains and track. He would push the trains around
for hours, the trains would have personality (the "bad" train would
bother the "good" trains), the trains would go their parking area to
sleep at night, etc. For a while we would need to build the track
for him, but now he delights in building his own configurations (and,
when he is in a good mood, he will even build a train track so that
Lydia can push the trains around!)

One of John's train track creations, with his (then) new turntable in
the middle! To the left you can see an Eiffel tower (guess where
we had just returned from). The bridge with the two spans and the
curved green safety bars in the middle bottom of the picture is the San
Francisco Bay Bridge. Overall, for John at least, these trains
have been one of John's most favorite toys.

More recently, John was given a roundhouse for
his birthday (by his grandparents, who else?), with which he is very
happy. Since he got it, it has been incorporated into quite a few
new train tracks.
