Every year at Christmas, the towns of Europe hold Christmas Markets -
place where different crafts are sold, there's plenty of Gluhwijn (a
hot, spiced wine which is very nice to drink on a cold December
evening), there are rides for the kids, etc. In Belgium, Antwerp
has a small market, Leuven and Liege have well known ones, Cologne and X:Aachen
in Germany - and, of course, Brussels has one also (the pictures of the kids on the donkey are from the
Brussels Christmas Market).
In the scene below the booths on the side with the lights are all
selling crafts or food, and at the end is a ferris wheel.
Here are some views from the ferris wheel! Just to Karen's right
(near Lydia's head) is a skating rink, and in the background is the St.
Catherine's Cathedral. In the far background (behind the church),
you can see the red lights from a tower in the Grand Place (see below
for a close up)
