In August we traveled to Grindelwald, Switzerland, to meet our Italian
friends Silvia and Stefano, with their daughter, Anna. We spent a
week in the Grindelwald valley (South of Interlaken and higher in the Swiss
Alps) and had a wonderful time. Grindelwald has many beautiful hiking
trails and the kids enjoyed riding the chair lifts or taking the train to
high up in the mountains - they didn't always enjoy the walks back quite so
much, though! Anna, John, and Lydia all played together beautifully
- even though John doens't know Italian and Anna doesn't know English, the
common language of "kid" seemed to be sufficient for most things.
This was our common home for a week:
Eating breakfast at our own little cafe!
A tough life, to camp here...
Our little tent on the left, Silvia and
Stefano's on the right
On our way!
First stop, Luxembourg for a playground and lunch, then Germany for dinner/camping,
and Black Forest Cake, of course!
